A significant part of this effort includes the engagement of professionals trained in Facilitating IEP Team meetings to ensure a collaborative dynamic in which every team member feels valued, heard and an integral part of a team that is using its collective effort to find the best possible education plan for special students, to the satisfaction of all members, and within school resource capability. The facilitation model is emerging as the preferred, and increasingly used form of meeting for IEP discussions. Districts and states are in need of trained facilitators to assist them in running IEP meetings using this model.
